This gourd box is not made to store anything in particular; it is a perfect storage place for anything that may fit inside. Perhaps candy, or even loose change you may be saving up. The hinges are designed from leather strapping along with decorative beads. A quaint, country house, surrounded by trees has been painted on the front. The entire piece is bordered with an attractive, carved, “wicker” pattern. As with all my gourds, a protective coating has been applied.

"Simple Treasures are Life's Greatest Pleasures" has been carved into this gourd jewlery box. The design surrounding the gourd has been burned and then painted with various tones of tan leather dye. The purple, quilted, beaded interior has been securley glued in place. This jewlery box is perfect for a little girl's jewlery or hair accessories. This particular gourd happened to be thin and more delicate than some of the others. It was in need of a “light hearted” figure to grace the exterior, I decided on a seemingly careless, fairy. She is swinging from a flower, just having a good time. A few different techniques were used to create her which included burning, carving, painting and the use of glitter pens.
